At least Eight killed nine hurt in fire in illegal Riga hostel Latvia

Firefighters inspect the building after a fire in the hostel in the center of Riga, Latvia, 28 April 2021. Eight people died, nine injured, and 24 evacuated after a fire erupted in the Japanese Style Centrum hostel.  

8 people dead in building blaze in Latvian capital Riga some of them foreign nationals, died early Wednesday in a fire at a building housing a hostel that was apparently operating illegally in the center to put out a fire that had engulfed rooms on the upper floor and the roof. The Japanese Style Centrum hostel is located in this building. The rescue operation is ongoing, with 53 firemen involved in putting out the fire. The area around the hostel is closed to traffic
