Japan extends virus emergency until June 20, 1 month before Olympics 


State of emergencies across Japan are extended but Tokyo 2020 chiefs say Olympics will be held.

Japan has extended a coronavirus state of emergency in Tokyo and other parts of the country until June 20, just over a month before the Olympics Despite growing public opposition to the Games, organizers have insisted that they will go on.

A top doctor in Japan warned the Tokyo Olympics could spread variants and trigger a "new disaster."Since the emergence of Covid-19, there has not been such a dangerous gathering of people coming together in one place from so many different places around the world”
