Active shooter situation in Olde Town Arvada, Colorado. Officer down in the shooting.Police have responded to reports of an active shooter in the Olde Town district northwest of Denver. An officer is confirmed to be down.

An Arvada police officer was killed following the shooting in Olde Town earlier this afternoon, Arvada Mayor Marc Williams confirmed with Denver7 just a few moments ago.

Governor has released a statement following today’s shooting in Olde Town Arvada, where a police officer was killed. 

Arvada police are holding a news conference to give an update after one of the department’s officers was killed in a shooting today in Olde Town. 

Arvada Police Department Deputy Chief Ed Brady says an Arvada officer responded to a call of a suspicious incident near the Arvada Library. Just after 1:30 p.m. they received 911 calls that an Arvada officer had been hit by gunfire.The officer was killed. 

He was a veteran officer with the department. They are not releasing his name pending family notification.Another person was taken to the hospital believed to be the gunman. This person is dead. 

Another person, believed to be a "Samaritan" is also dead.In total, three people died in the shooting. The department will provide more information at a later time, most likely not until Tuesday morning.

Hundreds of people lined a procession route for the Arvada police officer who was killed today in a shooting, including firefighters and first responders who filled bridges over I-70 in Jefferson County.
