Iran-backed militias in Iraq warned the U.S. after the strikes last night “We ... will avenge the blood of our righteous martyrs against the perpetrators of this heinous crime and with God’s help we will make the enemy taste the bitterness of revenge."

Iraq's military also criticized the strikes saying they were a blatant and unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty and national security. It called for avoiding escalation, but also rejected that Iraq be an “arena for settling accounts.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman said today on last night's U.S. airstrikes in Iraq and Syria, Certainly what the United States is doing is disrupting security in the region, and one of the victims of this disruption will be the United States.

U.S. launches airstrikes against Iran-backed militias, targeted operational and weapons storage facilities at two locations in Syria and one location in Iraq
