WHO condemns the attack on Afrin hospital in NW Syria resulting in at least 13 killed and more injured. World health organization chief said Attacks on health care are in violation of international humanitarian laws. Health care must be protected to ensure safe access for all. 

Tedros appalled by the continued news of attacks on health care facilities, including this incident in Syria where multiple healthworkers and patients were killed due to an attack on Alshifaa hospital. They are Not A Target. 

He added During the COVID19 pandemic, more than ever, protecting the health, welfare and lives of health workers on the frontline is critical to enabling a better response. Health care should be protected to enable safe access to Health For All.
