Plane with 85 people onboard crashed at vicinity of Patikul, Sulu



A Philippine defense secretary says at least 17 dead, 40 rescued in crash of military plane with 92 on board.

A Philippine military plane crashed in southern Philippines today carrying at least 85 people reported, citing Philippine military chief. Chief of Staff Gen. Cirilito Sobejana said C130 plane crashed after missing a runway in Sulu and at least 40 have been rescued.

At least 85 persons boarded the C-130 military plane of the Philippine Air Force crashed before noon on Sunday in Sulu. 

Authorities said plane was about to land in Jolo port in Sulu when the incident occurred at 11:30 a.m.Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief General Cirilito Sobejana confirmed at least 40 personnel have so far been rescued from the burning military cargo plane.

A C-130 aircraft of Philippine Air Force (PAF) with a tail number 5125 and with 85 people onboard crashed today at vicinity of Patikul, Sulu. Fire suppression is ongoing.
