Huge fire breaks out at Haldia Petrochemicals . Fire reported at the Napatha tanker. Several fire tenders working at the spot. 

Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd., often referred to as HPL, is one of the largest  Petrochemicals company in India, with a total capacity equivalent to 10, 00,000 TPA of ethylene.It was formed out of a joint venture between Government of West Bengal, The Chatterjee Group, TATA Group and Indian Oil Corporation in 1994.

The Commercial production started in 2001. The factory complex is located 125 km from Kolkata, at Haldia, in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal, India

The Naphtha tanker is full of chemicals so it is not possible to put out the fire with water. Special fire extinguishing gas is being used. No casualties have been reported so far.

It is learned that the naphtha tanker of the petrochemical factory caught fire, seven engines of the fire brigade reached the spot. Fire engines and around several firefighters are attending a fire at Haldia Petrochemicals. Please avoid the area and close all doors and windows
