Massive solar flare measuring X1.0 to hit Earth by early October 31
Second major X-class flare of Solar Cycle 25. This X1-flare can cause radio interference and lead to mid-latitude auroras.
A major solar flare measuring X1.0 was observed around AR 2887 at 15:35 UTC. The active region is directly facing Earth and should a CME be produced, it would almost certainly be directed towards our planet.
A strong solar flare occurred earlier this afternoon and could make viewing the Northern Lights possible this weekend! The best viewing will likely be after midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
