Emergency:-Chemical leak at Leicester food manufacturer sees casualties taken to hospital.



leak broke out shortly before 8:30am this morning at Bradgate Bakery in the Beaumont Leys area of the city. Emergency crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Police were all dispatched to the scene.

A fire service spokesperson said The small gas cloud caused by the leak has been safely dispersed and there are no further chemical leaks.

Neighbouring residents were ordered to keep their windows and doors shut while emergency services dealt with the leak.

Chemical support vehicles were dispatched to help with all staff from the bakery safely evacuated.The fire service has confirmed that 23 people were treated at the scene for gas inhalation with several taken to hospital.
