U N Headquarters in New York City on Lockdown After Armed Man Seen Pacing Outside Gate

A man armed with a gun seen pacing outside the United Nations HeadQuarters Thursday has promoted a large police response

United Nations staff are sheltering in place, according to a journalist who works for the U.N. People should avoid the area 

New York police department said "We have received a call about an armed man seen near 42d Street and First Avenue," a police source said.First Avenue and streets around the United Nation's HeadQuarters have been blocked and a helicopter has been seen flying over the building in midtown, Manhattan

The NewYork Police Department has issued a traffic alert for the intersection of 42nd Street and 1st Avenue right outside the United Nations Headquarters and said the public should “expect emergency vehicles in the surrounding area”

Street closures around the United Nations Headquarters in New York due to a man with a gun sighting.  New York Police Department said Sniper units being deployed near the United Nations 



The standoff at the UnitedNations is over. The Man who was holding a shotgun is now in the custody of the NYPD. No Injuries or fatalities.
