A strong earthquake of 6.2 magnitudes in eastern Taiwan.


A Powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred Monday evening, January 3, off the east coast of Taiwan, said the Meteorological Office, the tremor was felt in the capital Taipei without casualties or damage being reported immediately.


The United States Geological Survey USGS said the quake measured 6.2 in magnitude and hit at a depth of 28 kilometres 17 miles.

The epicentre was given in the sea 64 kilometres east of the coastal city of Hualien
US authorities say, with no immediate reports of damage . There is no tsunami threat to the coastal following the earthquake that hit the east coast of Taiwan
