Dangerous Tornado touched down near Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport


A tornado briefly touched down near Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport around 3:58 p.m. CT. The area was under a tornado warning at the time. 

Radar indicates possible debris and chaotic motions coincident with spin. Awaiting reports. Confirmed tornado on the ground racing east of Houston, Texas

A tornado has been observed moving northeast towards the town of Dayton. All 26,000 residents in the warning area should seek immediate shelter.

Severe weather continues for portions of the Gulf Coast of Texas where several tornado warnings have been issued this afternoon. A brief tornado or two is possible, damaging winds and hail the rest of the afternoon into the evening. The risk of tornadoes near and north of Houston will continue as a warm front lifts north across the area. 

A tongue of warm, unstable air will spill north, with low-level twist maximized along that front. The overlap could brew a few tornadoes.
