Israel's military has fired missiles at sites in Gaza

Israeli and Palestinian media report of IDF air strikes in Gaza. The attacks are in response to 2 rockets from Gaza that exploded off the coast of Jaffa which Hamas says they were fired due to weather related malfunction.Gaza didn’t get 24 hours without strikes in 2022.

Israeli Defense forces Said This morning, 2 rockets were fired from Gaza toward Israel.According to protocol, no sirens were sounded and no interception took place as the rockets landed in the sea off the coast of central Israel. As fireworks lit up the skies to celebrate NewYear2022 around the world, a different type of fire came from Gaza terrorist rocket-fire toward Israel. In response, we just struck Hamas sites in Gaza, incl. a rocket manufacturing site and military posts used for terrorist activity.

According to Israeli media, Hamas told Egyptian mediators that if Israel strikes there will be a response. Things could spiral all potentially due to an error and missiles that hit in the sea, and a Pavlovian need to retaliate. Palestinians in Gaza end up paying the price.

Then add the administrative detention and health of Hisham Abu Hawash things could get very violent very soon. If they do, and God I hope not, remember that the story of whatever comes next doesn’t start when a Hamas shoots a rocket.
