Magnitude 6.0 earthquake hits New Britain region of Papua New Guinea, reports the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre

Earthquake of magnitude 5.9 located in New Britain region, Papua New Guinea at 19.99 Kms deep. The earthquake occurred at 02:05 on 09/01/2022.

According to local media, at least one residential building in Papua New Guinea was damaged and several people received small injuries while leaving their homes. Notably, some residents were caught by surprise when the earthquake hit, so people had to stay outside
