UK has reported record 157,758 Coronavirus cases in 24 hours



A New 157,758 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in England and Scotland. A New 42 people have died in England within 28 days of a positive Covid test, taking the UK total to 148,893.

UK COVID-19 Daily Update:-

157,758 positive cases (+ 20,175)
42 deaths within 28 days (- 31)
12,121 ppl had 1st dose of vaccine
15,893 ppl had 2nd dose of vaccine
106,665 ppl had booster vaccine

A total of 14,210 patients with Covid are now in hospital in England, up 68% week-on-week and the highest level since 20 February 2021.

UK Health Minister Sajid Javid says there's nothing in the available data that suggests England needs more Covid restrictions

UK Health Secretary says further restrictions "must be last resort" Sage science indicates stronger public health protections should never have been relaxed  a misjudgement that gave the virus freedom, momentum, and risks the emergence of new variants.
