Heavy fighting reported by Russian and ukraine sides along the contact line




Ukraine's armed forces and Moscow-backed rebels accuse each other of serious ceasefire breaches that have intensified fears of a Russian invasion of its western neighbour.

Ukraine's army on Saturday reported the first death of a soldier in weeks and accused Moscow-backed rebels of sharply escalating attacks that have redoubled fears of an imminent Russian invasion. 

The leader of the east Ukraine breakaway region, the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, says he has introduced general mobilisation as fears of war mount.I urge my fellow citizens who are in the reserves to come to military conscription offices. Today I signed a decree on general mobilisation," Denis Pushilin says in a video statement as monitors warn of an uptick in fighting in eastern Ukraine.
