Putin orders Russian armed forces to enter rebel territories in eastern Ukraine for "peacekeeping operations."



Putin recognises independence of pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine

In an address to the nation, Russian President Vladimir Putin announces that he will formally recognise the independence of the DNR and LNR, the separatist-held regions of Ukraine. 

Russian President Putin has announced Ukraine is not just a neighbor to us, but an inherent part of our history, culture and spiritual space. They are our comrades our family 

Russian President VladimirPutin said in an hour-long speech Monday that if Ukraine did not immediately end military operations in its eastern regions, Kyiv would hold "all responsibility for the possible continuation of bloodshed
