India demolished two residential high-rise buildings outside New Delhi on Sunday, in a dramatic spectacle carried live on television channels after days of excited media build-up.

UttarPradesh Noida Supertech twinTowers, a nearly 100 meter tall two illegal structures, collapsed within seconds of the blast at 2.30 pm today as directed by the Supreme Court Of India

The Noida planning authority said that the explosion will generate around 35,000 cubic metres of debris, of which 21,000 cubic metres will be disposed of at an isolated location near the city's Work Circle 7 limits.

The blast is believed to leave behind a whopping 55,000 tonnes of debris which will be disposed of in adherence to the Construction and Demolition, Waste Management Rules, 2016.

Noida authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari said that only the boundary wall of an adjacent residential society has been damaged in the explosion to raze down the twin towers in Noida. "There has been no damage of human life, animal life," she said.
